Cortunes is still in its early stages and I am working non-stop to offering a better, more meaningful way to discover music. So far, the response has been encouraging—and if even one new artist or song makes it onto your rotation, that’s a huge win in my book.

Long-term, I’d love to build out a more robust experience—including user accounts, faster recommendations with a dedicated database, integration with more services beyond Spotify, and smarter customization like toggleable filters, dynamic clustering styles, or even LLM-assisted exploration.

But doing all that requires time, energy, and capital — so for now, this is about proving the concept and bringing joy to music discovery in small but impactful ways.

Welcome to Cortunes. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Cortunes is a playlist generation and recommendation service that creates playlists based on seed song suggestions. We are NOT a music provider service like Spotify. Instead, we use our proprietary algorithms to create curated playlists based on artist collaborations and musical connections, which are then delivered to your Spotify account.

1.1 Service Limitations

Usage Limit: Users are limited to generating one (1) playlist per day.
Availability: We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
Dependencies: Our service relies on third-party APIs (Spotify and MusicBrainz), and functionality may be impacted by changes to these services.
No Guarantees: We make no guarantees about the quality, relevance, or suitability of playlist recommendations.
User Capacity: Only one user may use the service at any given time.

2. USER RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Age Restrictions

You must be at least 18 years of age to use Cortunes.

2.2 Prohibited Activities

Users shall NOT:

Use the service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the service
Use automated methods, bots, or scripts to access the service
Share access credentials with others or allow others to use your account
Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service
Circumvent the one playlist per day limitation
Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code
Engage in any activity that could disable, overburden, or impair the service
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, other accounts, or computer systems
Collect or harvest any information from the service not intended for public access
Use the service to generate content that is offensive, harmful, or violates others' rights
Manipulate identifiers to disguise the origin of any content transmitted through the service
Remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
Mirror or frame any part of the service without express written permission

2.3 API Usage

While users are not directly interacting with APIs, any attempt to manipulate or abuse our interface to the APIs is strictly prohibited.

3. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH ANY PORTION OF THE SERVICE OR WITH THESE TERMS OF SERVICE, YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY IS TO DISCONTINUE USING THE SERVICE.

5. PRIVACY PRACTICES

5.1 Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

5.2 Data Storage Practices

Session data is not permanently stored and is cleared once the playlist is generated.
We implement a single-user system to enhance security during playlist generation.
Authentication tokens are temporarily stored only for the duration needed to complete playlist creation.

6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

6.1 Ownership

All content, features, and functionality of the Cortunes service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, digital downloads, data compilations, software, and the compilation thereof, is the property of Cortunes or its licensors and protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 License to Use

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the service for your personal, non-commercial use.

6.3 User Content

When sharing playlists created through Cortunes, users are strongly encouraged to acknowledge Cortunes as the source (e.g., "Playlist created by Cortunes").

7. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

7.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

7.2 Arbitration

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the service shall be finally settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in Washington, unless you and Cortunes agree otherwise. Each party will be responsible for paying any AAA filing, administrative, and arbitrator fees in accordance with AAA rules.

7.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND CORTUNES AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

7.4 Time Limitation

You agree that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to use of the service or these Terms must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose or be forever barred.

8. CHANGES TO TERMS

8.1 Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make changes, we will notify you by email to the email address associated with your account.

8.2 Notice Period

We will provide notice of changes at least 24 hours before the changes become effective, unless a shorter period is required due to legal, regulatory, or security requirements.

8.3 Continued Use

Your continued use of the service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

9. GENERAL PROVISIONS

9.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Cortunes regarding the service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

9.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

9.3 Waiver

The failure of Cortunes to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.

9.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without the prior written consent of Cortunes. Cortunes may assign or transfer these Terms without restriction.

9.5 Force Majeure

Cortunes shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations where such failure is a result of acts of nature, acts of civil or military authority, fire, flood, earthquake, strike, civil unrest, pandemic, epidemic, acts of terrorism, war, failure of equipment, electrical power, or telecommunications services.
